During a reception celebrating the work of the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust to prevent unnecessary blindness, held this Tuesday at the Buckingham Palace, Sophie, who is married to the Queen's youngest son Prince Edward, gave an emotional speech in which she did not only highlight the monarch's work to better the Commonwealth but also revealed her special nickname for her.

During the speech, Sophie referred to the Queen as "Your Majesty" several times, but then she got more personal and took it to less formal settings by calling her "Mama." She said, "Mama, when I have returned from my travels, I have been so proud to share with you the work I have witnessed being carried out under the umbrella of the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust and the care of so many people working so hard to save and cure sight."

This could possibly be a royal tradition since it is well known that some members of the Royal family have special nicknames for others. Duchess Meghan, for instance, calls her husband Prince Harry by the short nickname "H," and refers to their cute son Archie as "Bubba."
