On the People TV show "Couch Surfing," the planned film with Diana came up again in 2019, and Costner revealed more details. Apparently, Princess Diana had been very worried about a possible kissing scene with Kevin Costner.
"I just remember her being incredibly sweet on the phone, and she asked the question, she goes, 'Are we going to have, like, a kissing scene?'" Kevin Costner said in 2019.

According to the actor, Diana was worried about the reactions of the public because her "life was very governed." Costner, however, wanted to reassure the royal.
"Yeah, there's going to be a little bit of that, but we can make that okay, too," Costner continued. The contact with Diana came through Sarah Ferguson, whom Costner speaks highly of today.
"[Fergie] was the one that set it up, and she never said, 'Well, what about me? I'm a princess too.' She was just so supportive of the idea," Kevin Costner explained in the interview.
