  • Are THESE favourites coming back soon?

The crime series NCIS has faced many cast changes over the years. Some of them especially devastated the fans, including the exit of "Gibbs" in season 19.

Although the creators made it clear that Mark Harmon, 70, hasn't closed the door on a return, viewers have so far been waiting in vain for a guest appearance or a comeback.

NCIS star Sean Murray on "Gibbs" and "DiNozzo" comebacks

Now Sean Murray, 44, gave hope in an interview with Parade and revealed that Harmon is more involved with NCIS than most think: "He does pop in. I saw him two weeks ago actually. So, he's around. It's not like he's packed up and left town or anything."

And the big reveal: "I'm not saying this just to say it for a tease and all that BS," Murray began, "I really, truly believe that the Gibbs could pop up somewhere. I really believe that there's a possibility of that happening."

In the interview, the "McGee" actor was also asked about Michael Weatherly, 53. He left NCIS in season 13 and was previously a fan-favourite. On the possibility of "DiNozzo" rejoining the series, Sean Murray said, "I talk to Michael all the time, so we joke about that possibility sometimes."

After Bull: Will Michael Weatherly rejoin NCIS?

Michael Weatherly isn't just talking to Sean about returning to NCIS. Lately, the actor's fans have seen many ominous posts about the series on his Twitter. So it is possible that he will return as "Tony" — especially since Weatherly's series Bull was recently cancelled.

Also, the story of "Tony" was touched on a few seasons ago. At that time, Cote de Pablo, 42, returned as "Ziva" for a few episodes. Fans also learned a lot about "Tony's" life. He now lives with their daughter "Tali" in France, where he later met "Ziva" again.

We will probably find out in the near future if a comeback actually happens. After all, it will become clear if Michael Weatherly tackles another project after Bull or decides on an NCIS return.
