Stellan Skarsgard and Kyle Soller are the newest members of the Star Wars universe! They'll join Disney+'s upcoming prequel series to the 2016 film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Variety reported the casting news on Thursday.

Diego Luna is already confirmed to reprise his role as "Cassian Andor" in the spin-off series, which is described as a "spy thriller." Alan Tudyk also returns as the droid "K-2SO."

It was announced that the series would begin shooting this year with an end-goal of a 2021 release date on Disney+. So far, no news has surfaced about a delay in that schedule, despite filming restrictions amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Stellan Skarsgard joins Star Wars, as does Kyle Soller

Stellan Skarsgard, a Swedish actor, joins the new series for his first Star Wars role. The popular and acclaimed actor is known for films including Breaking the Waves, Good Will Hunting, Thor, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. He also appeared in HBO's Chernobyl last year.

Kyle Soller, meanwhile, is a screen and stage actor whose best-known roles include Anna Karenina and the BBC series, Poldark.

The roles aren't yet known for the two new additions to the so far untitled Rogue One spin-off. The series will take place prior to the events of the 2016 film.
