  • THIS is the new trailer that just dropped

We’ve already said goodbye to two previous casts. And, soon we’ll be saying goodbye to Imelda Staunton, as the third final actress of the series to play the Queen. On Thursday morning, Netflix released a two-minute teaser for the first part of season 6 of the hit drama inspired by the lives of the British royal family.

They had said that the season will debut in two parts on November 16 and December 14, marking the first split premiere format since the series hit the streaming platform in 2016.

Part 1 will feature four episodes and focus on the events surrounding Princess Diana’s tragic death, and the new trailer was all about the late Princess of Wales. The clip opens with Elizabeth Debicki playing a piano in character as Diana, overlaid with footage of her sitting solo on the diving board of a yacht and dodging photographers with love interest Dodi Fayed.

As the trailer unfolds, we witness Princess Diana navigating the challenges of her first summer after her divorce from Prince Charles. In real life, their separation caused a firestorm of media articles and speculations that continue to galvanize the royal family's biggest scandals to this day.

Back to the trailer. Diana initially enjoys her coastal retreat, but the constant intrusion of paparazzi threatens her peaceful getaway and personal life.

A newspaper headline flashes across the screen, revealing the romance between Diana and Dodi, accompanied by a scandalous photograph of the couple. In a poignant voiceover, Diana reflects: "Don't really understand how I ended up here, dashing around and losing sight of myself in the process. I think that's been the story of my whole life."

Fans wonder how true to life it will be

Queen Elizabeth is also shown to be quite worried in the trailer. She is told, "I'm afraid, your Majesty, that interest in the princess' private life is unlikely to die down anytime soon," as the sovereign looked stiff. Was that really how it happened?

One can imagine.

The trailer then goes to to Princess Diana on a yacht as photographers in a boat clamored to take her photo, and she said into a cell phone, "The press are on our tails constantly."

Also interesting:

The trailer fast-forwarded to what appears to be the aftermath of Diana's death and a heated conversation between the Queen and then-Prince Charles. "What do people want from me?" the sovereign said.

"For you to be mother to the nation," Charles says. "You've seen the images on the television," he continued. "Diana gave people what they needed. All over the world, in their thousands. And they adored her for it."

That already sounds like a great set up for the drama, intrigue and mystery that has characterize the show for its very successful first five seasons. Fans will only have to wait a handful of weeks before part 2 drops on Netflix. The remaining six episodes (5-10) of the series will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix on December 14th, 2023.

For now, get ready for Part 1. It's going to be a doozy.
