The role of "Meredith Grey" was a really big breakthrough for Ellen Pompeo. At the time she was already 34 years old even though her character in Grey's Anatomy was roughly only 28 when she started as an intern in the surgical program at the hospital which was then still called "Seattle Grace".

With 16 seasons in the bag, Ellen Pompeo still(!) stars as "Meredith Grey". Pompeo signed a new contract for her role in Grey's Anatomy in 2015, making her one of the 10 highest paid women in television! The show is now in its 17th season.

Patrick Dempsey's "Dr. Derek Shepherd", whom everyone just called "McDreamy" after the first couple of episodes, started enchanting the fans of ABC's hit medical drama Grey's Anatomy when it premiered in 2005.

Dempsey's mane is slightly more grey by now, but he's still quite an attractive man! He exited the show with the end of the eleventh season, when "McDreamy" died a heart-breaking TV death. In 2016, he appeared as "Jack Qwant" in "Bridget Jones's Baby", but mainly (as the picture suggests) he dedicates most of his spare time to race car driving and taking care of his family - he has been married to his second wife since 1999 and they have three children.
