Trevor Noah has officially been named next year's GRAMMYs host! As Entertainment Tonight shares, it was announced on Tuesday that Noah would be acting as master of ceremonies for the iconic awards show, and he's already expressed his excitement for the event!

Noah makes comedic statement about being named host

Noah made a statement about being named host of the GRAMMYs shortly after the announcement was made. "Despite the fact that I am extremely disappointed that the GRAMMYs have refused to have me sing or be nominated for Best Pop Album, I am thrilled to be hosting this auspicious event," the host of The Daily (Social Distancing) Show said.

He then went on to joke about why he feels uniquely qualified to take on the gig. "I think as a one-time GRAMMY nominee," Noah continued, "I am the best person to provide a shoulder to all the amazing artists who do not win on the night because I too know the pain of not winning the award! (This is a metaphorical shoulder, I'm not trying to catch Corona). See you at the 63rd GRAMMYs!"

Noah "the perfect choice" as GRAMMYs host, says Academy CEO

Noah may not have been up for any of the musical categories, but he actually did receive a GRAMMYs nod! As Entertainment Tonight mentions, Noah's comedy special Son of Patricia received a nomination for Best Comedy Album at the 2020 GRAMMYs. The Chair and Interim President/CEO of the Recording Academy, Harvey Mason Jr., has also expressed his confidence in choosing Noah for the role of GRAMMYs host!

"With a knack for keeping viewers engaged and entertained, Trevor is the perfect choice to lead us through what's sure to be an incredible evening full of music, unforgettable moments, unity and inspiration," Mason Jr. said. "He is a dynamic host, comedian and personality, and we're thrilled to welcome him to the GRAMMY stage as host of music's biggest night for the first time."

There's no question that Noah's unique brand of quick-witted, sarcastic humour will liven things up, and we certainly look forward to seeing what he brings to the table when the GRAMMY Awards take place on January 31 next year!
