When Prince Harry stepped away from the Royal Family, he left behind years of work with royal patronages, charities, and organizations.

Finally, one of those vacancies is now set to be filled. And it's Harry's sister-in-law Duchess Kate who is stepping up in his place.

Duchess Kate is the new Prince Harry... for England rugby

One of Prince Harry's cherished patronages was with the Rugby Football Union. He gave it up when he and Duchess Meghan left royal work for good in early 2021.

The RFU is now set to name the Duchess of Cambridge its new patron, which should happen "imminently," according to the Daily Mail.

Royal fans can also expect a fun rivalry in Kate's new role. While she is with England rugby, her husband Prince William holds the same position with the Welsh Rugby Union.

So, look for Duchess Kate to be more involved on the rugby pitch coming up. This role was rumoured several months back, but it now looks like it's happening for real.

Prince Harry is a noted rugby fan, and you'll remember he wanted to keep this patronage after first stepping back from royal work in early 2020.

However, a year later, Queen Elizabeth II made her grandson give up his remaining roles, as he was no longer a working royal.
