Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attempted to make reparations with Thomas Markle ahead of their royal wedding in 2018. The news broke on Monday, after a series of text messages was released as part of Meghan's current court case against the publisher of The Mail On Sunday and MailOnline.

According to The Guardian, court documents filed on Monday revealed texts sent by both Harry and Meghan to Meghan's father, Thomas Markle Sr., just before the wedding.

Harry and Meghan tried to prevent drama with Thomas Markle

The text messages show Harry pleading with his soon-to-be father in-law to get in touch before the wedding day and to cause no further drama.

"Tom, Harry again! Really need to speak to u. U do not need to apologize, we understand the circumstances but 'going public' will only make the situation worse.

"If u love Meg and want to make it right please call me as there are two other options which don't involve u having to speak to the media, who incidentally created this whole situation. So please call me so I can explain. Meg and I are not angry, we just need to speak to u. Thanks."

"Oh any speaking to the press WILL backfire, trust me Tom. Only we can help u, as we have been trying from day 1," Harry's messages ended.

Meghan showed concern for her father's health

Another message shows Meghan expressing concern for her father's health before the wedding.

"I've been reaching out to you all weekend but you’re not taking any of our calls or replying to any texts… Very concerned about your health and safety and have taken every measure to protect you but not sure what more we can do if you don’t respond. Do you need help? Can we send the security team down again? I’m very sorry to hear you’re in the hospital but need you to please get in touch with us… What hospital are you at?," Meghan's text to her father read.

Meghan reportedly received a missed call from her father at 4:57 a.m. on her wedding day. They've had no further contact since then.

Thomas Markle is no longer in touch with Meghan

Thomas Markle had undergone heart surgery which ultimately prevented him from attending the wedding. Since the wedding day, he's been involved in publicity stunts and made controversial comments that have further fractured his relationship with Harry and Meghan.

Meghan's ongoing court case involves the unlawful publication of a letter she had written to her father. The first hearing takes place via video conferencing this Friday.
