Queen Elizabeth II and Buckingham Palace released statements on January 18th that gave the public details about the future of Harry and Meghan moving forward. As of spring 2020, the Sussexes will no longer use their HRH titles and they will also no longer receive public funding for their royal duties.
Prince Charles will fund Harry and Meghan privately
A royal source has revealed to People, that Prince Charles will be funding Harry and Meghan privately. "Prince Charles will be offering private financial support to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle following their agreement with Queen Elizabeth," the royal source told the outlet.
Harry and Meghan wish to be "financially independent"
It has been clear from the very first announcement from Harry and Meghan that they wish to be "financially independent" and no longer receive public funds for their work. With their wish granted, this now means they are free to seek employment. However, despite no longer using their royal titles, they have promised that whatever work they do, will "uphold the values of her majesty," according to People.
Prince Charles has always envisioned working with both of his sons, which was revealed a few days ago. Having him fund the Sussexes will allow him to keep that bond with Harry and Meghan as well as with William and Kate. We will have to wait until spring of this year to see how the changes will unfold.
