Trooping the Colour 2022: Royals, royals and more royals
Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex arrived together with their children Louise and James. On the other hand, Prince Charles, Princess Anne and Prince William were on horseback. This year there were some changes: Instead of the Queen, the traditional salute to the soldiers was led by Charles with Anne and William.
It was the first time Queen Elizabeth had not opened the parade. Afterwards, the parade took us to Buckingham Palace. There, the Queen finally took centre stage. In a light blue outfit, a brooch and pearl necklace, she stepped onto the balcony with her cousin Edward.
On the balcony afterwards, fans were greeted by the working senior royals, including William, Kate and their children – who even made some funny faces. But all eyes were on the Queen.
Meghan and Prince Harry, who traveled for the celebration, were not allowed on the balcony with their children. They watched the parade from the Major General's office at the Palace. The traditional air show concluded this year's Trooping the Colour event.
