Queen Elizabeth II is officially set to meet US President Joe Biden.
Today, Buckingham Palace announced that the Queen will host President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden at Windsor Castle on June 13. Their Sunday meeting will come after the US President visits Cornwall for the G7 summit 2021.
Queen Elizabeth and Joe Biden meeting in UK next week
Biden will be the 12th US President to meet the Queen, dating back to her first such event with President Harry Truman in 1951. It also follows memorable visits for recent Presidents Donald Trump and Barack Obama.
During his UK visit, President Biden also is expected to meet the recently-married Prime Minister Boris Johnson. While at Windsor Castle, Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla are also possible candidates to meet the Bidens, according to Daily Mail.
The Royal Family and the Bidens
Though President Biden has only been in office for five months, he does have connections to the Royal Family that run back several years. Biden even struck up a friendship with Prince Harry while serving as Vice President during the Obama presidency.
The Bidens also sent their condolences to the Queen after the death of Prince Philip in April. It will be the Queen's first time hosting a US President since her husband's passing.
