Ellen Pompeo is reflecting on fond memories with one of her former castmates! On Sunday, Pompeo took to social media to post a touching tribute to Grey's Anatomy co-star Giacomo Gianniotti, featuring a selfie they took during one of their final scenes together.

Pompeo congratulates Gianniotti for his work on Grey's

Pompeo began her Instagram post by applauding Gianniotti for his work on the show over the years. "Bravo @giacomo_gianniotti You will be missed," the actress known for playing "Meredith Grey" wrote on Sunday, alongside a beautiful photo of the two together on the beach.

She went on to call Gianniotti a "consummate professional," saying that he "aced it" when it came to dealing with the show's often tedious nature. "I’m excited for your future... and remember wine and pasta with me will always be a part of it!!" Pompeo concluded the post. "Tuo amico per sempre."

Gianniotti calls it "an honor" to have worked with Pompeo

Pompeo's photo was then reposted by Giannotti, who had some touching words of his own to share about her in return! "@ellenpompeo although our friendship will be everlasting, this ride with you has been incredible and I will deeply miss sharing the screen with you," he wrote on Instagram, calling her a "beach waved beauty."

Gianniotti is known for playing "DeLuca" on Grey's, but the show's midseason premiere saw his character meet a tragic end. He shared that the photo was taken during his last day of filming, and said it had "been an honor" to work with Pompeo. The actor also finished his post with a similar sentiment to hers, saying that the two "will be having much more time for pasta and wine now."

Grey's Anatomy is currently in its 17th season, which could also potentially be its last! Even though it's not yet known what the future holds for the hit medical drama, Pompeo recently shared her hopes for the series finale, saying she wants it to have "a nice ending" for both the fans and the characters.
