When he appeared on Mark Birnbaum's Instagram Live series recently, Jamie Foxx confirmed that the Mike Tyson biopic he's been working on is a go! Here's what he said about it!

Jamie Foxx shared during an interview with Mark Birnbaum that his much anticipated Mike Tyson biopic is definitely moving forward! As People shares, Foxx appeared on Birnbaum's Instagram Live series Catching Up on Wednesday, where he talked about the status of the project.

"It's a definitive yes," he said of the movie happening. "Look, doing biographies is a tough thing. Sometimes it takes 20 years to get them done. But we officially got the real ball rolling."

Foxx wants to show that "everybody evolves" through Tyson biopic

Foxx shared that he hopes to show Tyson's development over the years in the biopic. "We want to show everybody evolves," he said, according to People. "I think when we lay the layer of Mike Tyson in this story, I think everybody from young and old will be able to understand this man's journey."

"And then just the technology of how I'm gonna look," Tyson continued. "I guarantee you people will run up on me in the street, and ask for autographs, and think that I'm Mike." He also mentioned that his workout routine in preparation for the role has been pretty intense.

"Every other day, I do 60 pull-ups, we do 60 dips, we do 100 push-ups," he shared. "I ain't got no calf muscles, so we might have to get some prosthetics for that."

Foxx has previous experience with biopics thanks to past roles

Foxx's biopic on Mike Tyson may be in pre-production, but he's no stranger to starring in films based on real life stories! As People mentions, Foxx's breakout role was playing musician Ray Charles in the 2004 biopic Ray— a performance which earned him an Academy Award.

He also starred alongside Michael B. Jordan in this year's legal drama Just Mercy, playing "Walter McMillian," a man who received the death sentence in 1987 after being accused of murdering an 18-year-old girl, even though there was evidence that proved his innocence.
