Geva Mentor brought a Netball for Charlotte

Netball Champion Geva Mentor, who was made a CBE for services to the sport yesterday, talked to the Press Association after the ceremony about what it was like meeting the Duke of Cambridge:

"He mentioned the height first of all, he said, 'It's wonderful to be able to look somebody in the eye'." Mentor, who helped the national team win the bronze at the Netball World Cup and secure gold at the Commonwealth Games last year, is actually one of the tallest female athletes in Britain at 6ft 2in.

She also brought a gift for Princess Charlotte it turned out: "I mentioned that I had a netball for little Charlotte, I think it's so important that kids know what netball is and grow up with it."

That will come in handy, since Charlotte is said to have inherited Duchess Catherine's talent and athleticism. Apparently, the four-year-old is is a a natural at Tennis and already has lessons regularly with her brother Prince George.

We will see if Charlotte takes after her mother - her new school, she started at St. Thomas's Battersea in September, focuses a fair amount of its curriculum on physical education, which probably suits her.
