Euphoria premiered on HBO on June 16, 2019, and has since won praise and awards for its themes of sex, identity, friendships, and trauma. Written by Sam Levinson, along with Drake as one of the executive producers, the series is actually based off of an Israeli series of the same name. 

HBO series Euphoria has been nominated for several awards since its premiere in June 2019. Most recently, actress Zendaya won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role as "Rue" in the series.

With Zendaya winning her first Emmy Award for her portrayal as "Rue", the series has also been nominated for 29 other awards and winning a total of nine of these accolades. This includes two additional Emmy Awards for Outstanding Contemporary Makeup and Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics.
